Welcome
The Scottish Highland Dance Academy was established in Perth, Western Australia over 40 years ago and is one of the leading highland dance schools in Australia.
Over the years our dancers have enjoyed many competitive successes together with achieving many personal goals of gaining their teachers and judges qualifications.
Our dancers have placed in championships in all states of Australia, Scotland, Canada and USA. This includes wins in Scottish, North American, Grand Australasian and International Championship.
Our class has had two Champion of Champions of Australia winners with Sophie Massy and Morven Johnston. Morven also has achieved 3 Scottish Championship wins at age 9, 12 and 13. In 2018 she was successful with a 6th in the Juvenile world final at Cowal.
Classes are held in Perth suburbs both north and south of the river. Our classes cover championship, competition, examination and floor show display work with our dancers being trained by 10 qualified teachers.
For more information on class times please contact Kerry Grosser.
Our dancers for many years have enjoyed the fabulous experience of performing with the renowned WA Police Pipe Band (WAPOL) and continue to perform with them at their concerts and community events. Our dancers have performed at the world-renowned Edinburgh Tattoo as well as tattoos in Virginia USA, Basel Switzerland, Oman and Russia in 2019. They were also the Perth dancers for the “Scotland the Brave” spectacular which has travelled Australia and New Zealand.
One of the greatest experiences for our dancers to this day was to dance in the video clip of Australian band “Jebediah” for their hit “Fall Down”.
The focus of the Scottish Highland Dance Academy is to teach to a very high technical level of highland dancing so our dancers develop a love of the great art form of highland dancing. Our hope for our dancers is that they fulfil their dreams, meet their goals and become the best dancers they can be.
